Sailing Alaska

Exploring North America's last frontier, Alaska, remains a "bucket list" item  for may travelers. While some Alaska ports are farther distance -wise than some destinations that cruisers can reach from U.S. ports the experience is unforgettable with dramatic natural beauty.

2015 will bring a host of new staterooms and land-sea opportunities. Radiance of the Seas will alternate northbound and southbound Alaska and Hubbard Glacier cruises. Cruise tours combine a sailing with a three-to-six night fully escorted tours package. Denali National Park and one leg on the Wilderness Express glass domed train cars will be offered by Royal Caribbean. Pre and post cruise land tours of the Canadian Rockies and Canada's Okanagan Wine Valley will be offered and a 19 night "Ultimate Cruise Tour" that includes a cruise and  Alaska & Canada land touring.

Eco -sites and wildlife land tours and ports of call will figure into Carnival Cruise line wee long voyages, each with an on-board naturalist to educate guests. The Carnival Legend will offer a one-time voyage from Seattle and will offer flightseeing, rainforest's canopy tours, hiking, and kayaking expeditions.

Lindblad Expeditions sails eight day Exploring Alaska Coastal Wilderness itineraries on the Sea Lion. Guest will view remote island, glaciers, fjords, whales, bears and eagles. For something different they will offer a 1 5- day itinerary between Seattle and Sitka and may include highlights mentioned above but also exploration of the remote Gulf Island of British Columbia and Alaska's island of Haida Gwaii.

Alaska continues to be one of the greatest places to see whales breached, dog sleds pulled and much or so much more. This is what dreams are made of, at least for my family.
